That’s good news for you. Most China Spring calls end with a part that costs less than a night in a hotel: a swollen capacitor, a pitted contactor, a float switch on an attic air handler, a dishwasher inlet valve. The system isn’t dying — it needs the weak link replaced and someone to tell you honestly whether the rest of it is fine. The dual-run capacitor is the single most common part we replace. It’s a small can that gives the compressor and fan motor the kick they need to start; heat cooks it, and after four or five Texas summers it’s tired. Symptoms: the outdoor unit hums but the fan won’t spin, the system starts and quits, or the breaker trips. The contactor — the relay that switches the compressor on — pits and sticks the same way. Both are quick, inexpensive fixes if you don’t run the system to death first.
Ice on the copper line, warm air from the vents while the unit runs, or a system that needs “topping off” every summer all point at a leak. We don’t just add refrigerant and leave. We find the leak, price the fix against a coil replacement, and let you decide with real numbers in front of you.
Cottonwood in May, dust off the fields, grass clippings, dryer lint from a vent that exhausts too close — it all packs into the outdoor coil like insulation.
