What Goes Wrong With Dishwashers In China Spring
Not draining
Standing water at the end of the cycle is the #1 dishwasher call. In order: a clogged filter or sump (food, glass, a fruit sticker), a kinked or blocked drain hose, a garbage disposal knockout plug that was never removed on a new install, or a failed drain pump. Three of those four are cheap.

Three Things To Check Before You Call

- The filter. Twist out the cylindrical filter in the floor of the tub and rinse it. If it was packed, run a cycle — that may be the whole problem.
- The disposal and the air gap. Run the disposal (a full one backs up the dishwasher) and, if you have an air gap on the sink, pop the cap and clear it.
- A hot-water and vinegar cycle. Run the tap hot at the sink first, then a cycle with a cup of white vinegar in an upright bowl. If cleaning improves, it’s scale, and we can descale properly.
